I presume you are reffering to the Origin Unit. I have the origional so maybe able to help.
This unit has like most GPS units has menu's to turn fucntions on and off. The unit will display your current speed, direction. When you get within a set distance of a camera (user sets range) the unit will compare your speed to speed of road. If vehicle speed is greater will flash and beep with range countdown to camera, also diplays road number & road speed. If vehicle speed is less than road speed unit will flash a icon upon the screen to let you know theres a camera near, ie no need to panic. However if you suddenly speed up over speed limit then the warnings cut in. I believe this can be changed to it beeps and flashes as soon as camera is within range irrispective of speed.

Does anyone know of a device that will do the following -

Know what the speed limit is for any particular road and beep/sound when I go over it by 10 mph and then beep manically if I go 30mph over it

I know the B2 warns about cameras if you are over the speed limit but can it be set warn all the time even if no cameras are approaching?

I have always found that the pedal below your right foot, when used in combination with the eyes and brain tends to satisfy the requirements of NOT getting a speeding ticket!

Thanks guys

But does the B2 unit sound when over the speed limit even if there are no cameras around?

Cool

Surely that must be very difficult even for you pslewis, your brain, eyes and I presume right foot all working the pedals together (not much room down there, even given the advantage of a very small brain) Steering is provided for by your buttocks and spleen I assume.

Question

I can't REALLY believe that you need an alarm to tell you that you are breaking the speed limit?? Use your eyes and save a fortune, spend it on a nice soothing back massager or something!!

I just find it to tempting to put my foot down - its really about self control I know but I think an alarm would help me, thats all

Or you drive so slow that you never have to actually use your brakes eh Pete
The bonus for the older folk doing this is that they get to p1ss off all other road users. And the really really clever bit is to drive a very fast car (Impreza Turbo)as you just know that the fact that your driving one of them so slow is gonna push a sane man over the edge

They KNOW I can drive properly!! and safely, and don't have anything to prove!!

Oh, yes, AND I have the funds to buy a new Impreza every month until I keel over!! Har Har Har

I used to have a 735i and the trip computer could be set to warn you if you exceeded a limit which you could set yourself.

PSL would have had a different attitude I'm sure if he had been caught that time when he thought the coppers had flashed him! That would have put his insurance up.

In line with this thread, does any one know if there is a gadget for switching the lights on when it gets dark? I could also do with something to tell me if its raining and then switch the wipers on.........!

Sorry couldnt resist it.
