I was in a sort of similar position as I had bought a replacement car and wanted to cover my old one whilst I took my time to do it up before selling it. My insurers would only cover for a week which didn't suit me. So I found a company that would insure it for a year BUT I could cancel and get a pro-rata refund without any serious penalty. However if you can find a broker to cover for a few days I am sure this would be better especially as a years premium won't be cheap. I used QuoteLine Direct (0870 442 94 95) and they were quite helpful. More details are on thread in INSURANCE forum under "Teenage Car Insurance" which is on page 2 or 3 now. DL

Edited to add tel number

Question

Hi All

My sister owns a scoob and we are off to network Q tomorrow but the car has been parked up for months and the insurance has run out Is there anywhere that would insure me to drive it for a few days? I have spoken to my insurance company and they don't do temporary cover

Thanks

Paul

Question

Can't you drive it on your own policy, with the owner's permission?

OK, so it's only third party, but it's legal.

I think the car has to have it's own insurance doesn't it? I am insured to drive other cars but the car is currently un-insured.

Thanks

Ah, yes, you're right. Sorry, blonde moment.

Try contacting a broker and ask their advice?

Best thing I can think of is to ring a broker, ask for the motor insurance department and explain to them what you need. They may be able to point you in the right direction.

I just did a quick search for insurance brokers in Bucks and found:

Peter Lole & Co.Ltd
Oak House, Oak End Way
Gerrards Cross Buckinghamshire
SL9 8BR

Tel: 01753 889678

• Commercial
• Motor
• Marine
• Freight Liability
• Household
• Yacht
