They are legal-
-reflective border around the letters seems to be more than 11mm, letters are black on a reflective background etc(assuming rear is yellow instead of white and manufacturers details etc are on them)
As far as i am aware there is no requirement for the reflective background to be rectangular at all (with regards to the actual dimensions of the plate- hence cut down plates being legal as long as there is enough border around the characters)..... as long as the size of reflective area around the letters conforms to requirements and surround all the numbers/letters
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/regm....htm#after2001
Could look interesting on the right car.
I think they have done their homework and have manufactured them to the exact letter of the law- just to take the p*ss..

All vehicles registered after the 1st October 1974 must display a black on white plate to the front and a black on yellow plate to the rear.
From the 1st September 2001 all new plates are required to display the plate manufacturers name and telephone number.
So sorry, these plates are probably illegal based on the fact that the size of the reflective border must also conform to a specific size, and there has to be a minimum gap between the top and bottom of each character and the edge of the plate, and still allow sufficient room for the manufacturers details.
I would certainly question their legality.

Interestingly, I do not see anywhere on the DVLA site that says the number plate *MUST* display the manufacturers details!!!
Can someone confirm this?
