Sharp 22 inch for £1,185.Still hard to justify, over four times the price of a normal tv.

How soon can we expect real price reductions, and will the one day be around the same as equivalent crt tv's?

I bought the same TV 2 months ago for 1050 delivered. It was 2500 less than a year ago!! I HAD to get a Flat screen jobby coz the missus redesigned the living room and no room for a conventional TV!! Have to say it looks sweet though!

I read somewhere (Cnet I think) that we won't see a drop till late 2004 early 2005. This is when production in the new plants will be at max.

lcd TV's emphasise 'noise' really well. Unless you have digital TV then dont bother. The colours on the sharp aquos are stunning - blacks look black - not grey , another good test of an LCD Screen. The image is not quite as sharp as the Sonys or Pana's but they dont show up motion blurness. There is a really good article on the Sharps in 'What Home Cinema' - I think it was last months - they gave it the gold award for best buy. Oh the sound on the Sharp is mint - very clear and nice bass. When I look at big clumbersome CRTVS's now there is no competition!! Oh and it looks aesthetically awesome - but make sure you buy a nice glass 'alphasson' stand - not a cheap argos jobby!

Try this site, the Shrp is only £1009, I have been researching plasma prices for a while and have loads of these sites bookmarked, so if you need any more give me a shout,

I bought a 17.1" Hansol for £399

Thought it might be too small but as it's half the distance away of my old TV it does the job.

No problems with picture quality.

Thanks for the replies.I'm tempted to wait a bit i think, but the idea of having one on the wall instead of a normal tv on a stand is pretty appealing.

btw,I read yesterday that last year 170 million crt tv's were sold worldwide.734,000 LCD tv's.

Are lcd tv's actually more expensive to manufacture,or is it just economies of scale, something new on the market?

That site above is a good one - There is a 20quid delivery charge on top and make sure that they give you the 3 year Sharp Manfufacturers Warranty!! Oh the Sharp Aqous comes on a nice swivel stand which allows you to twist the screen both up and down. Most LCD's you need to be directly in front of them to see the image clearly. If you put them on the wall your seats must be directly in front of them. That was the plus point of the sharp because you could easily angle the screen depending in which chair you were sat in - Most people have a 3 piece suite and not just a 2 seat sofa stuck in front of the TV. Anyway like you say it all depends on your budget.

Happy Viewing!

Question

Quick Q for the TV peeps - Where do you plug in all your scarts etc ? Is there a box on a cable that sits lower down on the wall or something ? Just wondering where all of the cables go ?

I have the Sharp Aqous 20" in my kitchen, can't fault it, top notch bit of kit! Would highly recommend it!

Bought it from www.bestpricetv.com - person from scoobynet runs it.

They have a hideaway tuner box where all your scarts and stuff plug in and then there is usually 1 (possibly 2) cable which goes to the screen, and to clarify the common confusion about viewing angles, all LCD and Plasma screens have a viewing angle of 160 degrees which is comparable with normal Tv,

jaf - the viewing angle is wider on the sharps AND if you look at ALL LCD Screens from an angle the contrast and brightness of the image increases decreasing your 'black' colour - basically not as good as looking directly at it. Normal TV's dont suffer from this trait as badly.
