Canon BP E1 battery grip
#1
1.3 crop factor, 8fps, amazing auto focus, spot metering, built like a tank, don't care if it's still turned on when changing lens or CF card, speed of LCD review, keeper ratio goes from 30% to 95%...mmmmmmmm!
Hope your not sleeping well

You can have my 10D if you want, lets say £3000 to you
Seriosuly, if you can wait, you can have my battery grip off my 1 if I decide to switch totally to digital but I'll take a few months to decide yet.
Cheers

What do I reckon?
Look at the seller's feedback, 'madame-elektra' usually buys and sells goth and fetish gear. Not cameras
The sale is restricted to pre-approved buyers, and there's only one reason for that - scam artists want to prevent certain people from bidding. These are the people who go around eBay, looking for scams and placing very large bids on them to protect legitimate buyers.
The pics on the site are all stock Canon photos - another clue that the particular camera advertised doesn't actually exist.
Don't even think about it.

here is his reply.....
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in my Canon digital camera
The camera is new in box, has 1 year EU warranty wich can be extended to 3 years
for the amount of GBP 50 The listing was restricted to bidding due the high amount
of non-paying bidders wich eBay fights against.
Currently, I'm in Amsterdam , Netherlands and I have the unit with me, ready to be shipped.
The package will be delivered with UPS 2 days air insured, or if you prefere
other career such as FedEx or DHL, let me know. I usually use UPS and I never
had a problem or long delay.
For the reason that you will pay the money transfer fees, I will cover all shipping
and handeling as well as insurance charges.
The package will be delivered safely, packed by UPS and I will write on it
"display unit, no comercial value" or as a gift so you will not need to pay any
additional taxes such as custom or import tax.
The buy now price as stated on eBay for the camera is GBP 1,200.00
Please send me an email if you are interested in purchasing the product and I
will send you an additional email with further details.
Thank you!

Told him I want a pic of the camera taken next to todays paper etc so he can prove he actualy has one.
My mate reccons there is a very simple self diognostic test that can be done to tell if the camera has any problems. Also to do this test he will need access to the camera.
Its got to be a scam..... trying to think If anyone I know is in the DAM at the moment who could take alook.

Luke, please... it's a hijacked account.
Scam artists send out emails to numerous eBay account holders asking them to 'verify their account detsils for security purposes' (or some other bull...t). A small (but nevertheless significant) proportion actually respond. The scam artist can then pick one that has a nice high feedback rating and use that to dupe people into bidding for a non-existent item.
Note how such people are usually abroad. It makes them harder to trace and prosecute.
There is NO legitimate reason to sell a camera worth £5000+ for a 'buy it now' price of £1200.
This is what a real auction for a 1Ds looks like. There aren't many, because there aren't too many people who can afford one in the first place, and even fewer who have a reason to sell. It's not like you can upgrade.

BTW I'd pay about £850-900 for a s/h 10D, but they're actually going for rather more than that on eBay. £1000 is as cheap as recent 10D's have gone for, which I guess means you've been offered a pretty good price. I think a used D30 represents much better value, though. (Want to buy mine?)

Sorry, been busy - SIDC AGM yesterday.
Why buy a s/h D30? Well...
- fantastic image quality. There's a quick review here with a number of worthwhile links at the end.
- incredible value. They're going for around £500 on eBay. The same money spent at Jessops gets you a Powershot S50 which is much slower and less capable. (I paid £1800 a couple of years ago FFS).
- full compatibility with the whole EOS range of lenses, flashes, remote triggers and other accessories.
- battery life is good for 300-400 shots. Add the BG-ED3 grip (which I also have) and you have a camera that looks and feels like a full professional model and can shoot 800 frames without a recharge. The grip transforms the feel of the camera.
- small file size saves storage space and speeds workflow. If you're concerned about resolution and detail from 'only' 3MP, let me know and I'll send you a couple of full-size images to print out.
My own D30 has hardly a mark on it, and has had a recent clean and full service at Fixation (Canon Pro service centre). It should be up for sale in a couple of weeks when my 1D arrives. I'll be sorry to see it go.

i got a grip S/H today from jacobs..
Whilst i was there they let me have a Canon/Kodak DSC520 to try . Ive got it with me (I bet they wouldnt have done this when they where new at £13-15000.00!!!!!)
You must know it. They have a few and are all boxed complete and in good nick. They wanted me to see the quality of a 2 million pixs camera based around one of the best bodies in the world. The first thing I noticed was its speed.... Jesus it is much faster to focus etc than a D30 or D60. Also in lower light it doesnt hunt.
The build quality is bloody Rolls Royce like a 1v etc. Maybe the batteries are a bit old and might have to find new ones???
But in a good ruck this will kill...I have drawn blood with my 1v.
have you used this camera???

No, I've not used it. I believe it's the same as the Canon EOS D2000, which you can read a bit about here.
Looks like it's based on the EOS 1n, 2 megapixel sensor with 1.6x crop. Discussions about it crop up occasionally on DPReview.
Depending on your needs on the digital side, it could be a bargain - you get the professional build quality but not the detail that a more modern DSLR will resolve. <hard-sell>Even my D30 offers 50% more resolution!</hard-sell>
How much did they want for it? (Don't worry, my I'm not going to cancel the 1D...)

Hi Martin
Thanks to the recent price cut, there's a UK-wide shortage. I spent Saturday morning phoning every reputable camera shop I could find - nobody has one in stock.
I have a couple of potential sources, though - fingers crossed that one might arrive by the weekend
