I have an old 3210 (on Orange PAYG) with a knackered battery and I put my SIM card into my G/F's Samsung A300 (Orange contract) to take it away on hols. I got past the PIN and the SIM unlock security, but now it wants the "Network Unlock Code". I've tried all the numbers we use, and the obvious "1111......." and "1234......" to no avail and Orange reckon it's a fault on the phone. Anyone any ideas?

Its because the phone is locked to Orange contract. You need to get an unlock code from orange, or try one of the utils available online

Orange want £20 to unlock it. But because the G/F is in a contract they are prepared to send her a new phone FOC. Surely this is more expensive than simply divulging a bloody number FFS. All I want to do is use it while I'm on hols.
Thanks for that link, but it's all PC based stuff, I'm on a Mac, and it doesn't seem to list the A300.

Then maybe the phone is faulty as Orange said. I'll have to wait for the new one and try that. Thanks for the advise guys.
