I've had mine miss-spaced for 3 years and the font is wrong. I've never been stopped.
It was on BMW's for most of that time, I put it on the scoob about a month ago.
My friend had a miss-spaced plate on his Porsche for several years and was not stopped once. It was on his Evo for two weeks before he got stopped and fined. I think the car has something to do with it (as silly as it sounds)
The police in some areas are very hot on this, others are not to bothered.

My humble opinion - as long as you don't have funky graphics/illegal font size the police have lots of better things to do.... unless you get stuck in one of those road blocks where they check everything and nick you for minor stuff (cruises etc)
Ive got a normal font but as small a plate as possible.. never had a prob.
If they dont think your trying to fool the reg plate readers they wont bother you...

I think as long as it is clearly readable and you don't try and turn a number or letter into something that it is not, you'll be ok.
I'm not sure how much he got fined, I'll ask him.

The POLICE pulled me OFF a busy M6 in my Legacy Turbo (years ago) to tell me that one (ONE) letter on my number plate was 1.2 centimetres out !! They even got a tape measure out. Jobsworths.
Illegal fonts and letters should be clamped down on, but its hardly a crime if the spacing is slightly out! My plates were standard in all other ways.

Got pulled on the M4 for removing the space between the numbers and letters. After 2.5 years.
Got a vehicle defect form and had to get it out right and checked at an MOT centre.
Think they're clamping down cause of all the plate recognition cameras for tax and average speed cameras and gatsos to stop them having to manually check pictures.
Cheers

I bought H4 OAD a few years ago and changed it to H40 AD and I didn't get touched in the year I had it. I sold the plate with the car eventually as I didn't want my initials on a car anymore.
Just make sure you have a correct set made up!
