GRAND DESIGNS

Now i know with this program your not going to please everyone and as long as the owner/desginer likes it then thats enough.
But did you see that house thats taken them 5 yrs to build. It wasnt to my cuppa tea.
But couldnt help thinking that Stig of the dump was going to open the door and welcome you in.
I think the design of the house lost its way over the 5 yr time period.

It looks like my conservatory, Just shows what happens when you make it up as you go along . A waste of a valuable plot IMO, was I the only one to clock the structural plywood 'finish' in various parts of the 'house' and the floorless balcony on the 1st floor . The budget was far to tight for the size of house, I think they would have a shock if they tried to sell it as the only people who would want it would be developers. We have something similar in Cheltenham, Its called the 'Millenium Restaurant' and it has been a derelict eyesore since 6 months after it opened for business. I understand the planning officer went down for approving it (and taking a bung)

I thought it looked like they'd given a bunch of 5 year olds a box of rubbish and asked them to build a house, the only thing that was missing was the sticky backed plastic and the old fairy liquid bottle...
or did I see that in there somewhere?
It was the first house I've not liked on Grand Designs, didn't think much of the 'architects' either tbh. A bit odd.

Some bits were interesting, loved the larder, and the way the dining table extended outside, but the general house seemed to follow no obvious design. Just bits of areas dumped here and there.
And the bloke looked more like a woman than his wife did
Great program though.

The architects were a bit up their own a*se were they not ?
"A house is really just a moment in time", "there really is a bit of innocent naivety about the design"
FFS ! what are you talking about ? Its a house (a bloody ugly one at that) not a work of art !
One of the few designs I haven't liked as well

Looked like a load of hotch potch sheds on an allotment. Did they get their architects qualifications by failing all the technical and design nodes but maxxing out on the pretentious poncy arty b011ox sales pitch part? They should both be in marketing.

How big a house do 2 people need? FFS!
Didn't think that those gabion's looked that bad, but I thought they were taking the pi55 with those straw bails. The whole point of them was for the look wasnt it, then they went and stuck metal cladding over it!
An architecture mate of mine studied at Sheffield Uni, need to ask her if he taught her.
When I saw that bloke I couldn't help think of Herr Lipp from League of Gentlemen...
