Just booked to go there for the New Year and wondered if anyone could recommend any decent lively restaurants/bars to go to on New Year's Eve itself.

I've already pre-booked a tour of San Fran and Alcatraz - any other recommendations?

Thanks
SS23.

It's costing me £1400 for 7 nights in a 4 star hotel.

My wife and I always go away for New Year - too much trouble in the UK on that night!!!

I was there for Y2K so a bit different. Rouge was a good night out a few months ago and if you're open minded The End Up wins Sunday am.

Cool

I'm flying there later today (from Austin). Quite looking forward to getting back there. Staying at the Hotel Monaco in Geary Street (just off Union Square).

For posh cocktails, have a drink at the "Top of the Mark" at the Mark Hopkins Hotel, 360 degree views of the city.
For real life, get yourself down the Mission area, and make sure you bring ID, you get ID'd everywhere.
