When do you know if you have been DONE by the speed camera transit?

One sat on a bridge over the A34 last night on the way home from the POD. Is there a flash? Do you get stopped down the road or is it a letter through the door job? I assume its a distance and time jobby so no flash.

Ar$e, I saw that one too. Just been thinking the same thing.
Didn't get stopped further down the road sooo.....
Are they forward facing? I guess they are.

yeah can't really miss it. your entire back view from the rear mirror lights up in one massive flash.
letter through the door I'm afraid. if your wife can be persuaded to say she was driving at the time, then.....

Same subject, different area, slightly diffrenet sceniario.
New A130 north of Rettendon.
2 officers on a bridge above a dual cariageway, holding what looked to be just a radar gun, can they have you without stopping you at the time or taking a picture? Do they have a hand held device that takes pictures.
Down to the shop for a radar detector me thinks.
Well fingers crossed for me and TVR Gary

Track Day Organiser
Its certainly worth the money
I have recently bought a Road Pilot with the additional Radar bit
I also bought a LRC100 Lazer detector at Santa Pod
Just off now to get it fitted
Got some new contact lenses and keeping my wits about me
MY LICENSE SHOULD NOW BE SAFE
Phil

Laser's do not give off a tell tale flash. They are normally linked to a recording device which stores a nice picture which includes your speed, postion of the road and number plate!!(and possibly a clear picture of the driver).
Hard and factual evidence if it goes to court.
Hence why i have just installed a LRC100
steve.

If it was the police with handheld lazer on a bridge - you should be ok if you didn't get stopped later down the road....
They leave the "videoing" to the safety cameras crews

It was a white van with an orange square, it had two openings, one on each side, both sides had a camera facing out of it. No flashing, it was daylight.
I saw it quite early so had slowed down. It was in the road works just before you get to the A34/M4 junciton if you are southbound.
Not sure whether I was doing 40 when I saw it though

Maybe it was just a tax van??
loads around here checking you for tax as you go past.
heading back from Preston the other day theres a white van parked on bridge ,portable toilet outside and 3 cameras all lined up over each lane of the motorway

Best wear a balaclava to be immune to the forward facing pics Also it's always a shame when your number plate is mispelt (f instead of s?). Also unfortunate when it falls off...

Photos taken by speed cameras can NOT be used to identify the driver - just the car. No need for balaclavas until the ******** change on the laws on what is admissable in evidence, which they probably will in the not too distant future...

slightly off topic i got stopped last night by a dark blue plain merc traffic cops usual drivel spot check all that crap
we got on to the subject of speeding and speed limits as the road i was on used to be 40 now 30 no houses close no footpaths,no pedestrians!
cops said they actually argued that it should be left a 40 but council said no!!
they are not all bad after all

Whilst the pictures cannot be used to identify the driver, when you get to court they hsve nice big colour ones. I recently had to go to court as we could not name the driver, I was amazed that I was sent a 2" x 2" picture in black and white, yet the prosecuting lawyer produced the nice big colour pics in court. As it happens we still could not make out the identity of the driver, however, if the picture had been clearer things may have been different as I am sure the Magistrates would be influenced by the likeness of the person in the photo to whoever is in front of them!
