Moving to a new place and need to buy a decent hoover. Will use it for cleaning car too so its gotta be fairly powerful.
My mum has a Kirby but uses a Henry for smaller jobs. She tried a Dyson and like most got rid of it after a few months as it was utter cr*p.
I personally think the Henry is really good for the money (£90 unless anyone knows somewhere cheaper). Any other suggestions before we part with our cash?
Simon.

Doesn't matter - parts are cheap - 2 year manufacturers warranty and coluld fill its cylinder after any of the above had hoovered your house. PS we have 2 none have had any problems in 4 years.

Why don't you get a dyson then LOL
Sorry - but all other hoovers are crap
Did I not tell you I have two of them - one for upstairs and one for downstairs - guarantee the dyson outdoes them gram for gram with dust and grime lifted.
Think your mum got a ****e version and was put off - bit like the comment above about subaru build quality - funny that after looking at the JDM Customer satisfaction survey.

So when I visit some VERY large houses for work. The staff always use Meile ,henry's or Sebos. They hate Dysons. They have a thermal cut out that is more sensitive than "Turbo Kitty" in a diet thread
people buy into the design thing... But if your happy then good luck.. But most never touch them again.

lightning - my old dear has a kirby that cost around £900 and it will clean up sh*t you cant even see. It will make your Dyson look like one of the hand held dirt devils.
The whole dyson philosophy of "no bag means better suction" is the biggest load of bollo*ks ever. Most people buy them because of this or because they like the funky design and/or colours.
If your happy with yours then fair play but I and a lot of other people do not rate them.
Simon.

Kirby are the daddies. I used to work in an arcade when i was at school and the one they had was 30 years old and had never gone wrong, and still nearly sucked the carpet up
I got a bagless vax (dyson stylee see-thru purple) for £50 at comet and its fine for my place. (mostly wooden floors, plus carpeted bedrooms).

Henry every time.
You can boot him down the stairs, chuck him down the driveway and generally abuse him for years and he still works and sucks big time
Cheers

Dyson's suck sorry could'nt resist it
Seriously, its a good cleaner, costs nothing to run apart from the odd belt, and IMO it ahs the most powerful suction power when compared to the others. Plus it filters perfectly unless you accidentally take out the cylone bit that say's "do not remove" and don't align it when putting it back - in which case all the dirt goes staight into the filters
We use Karcher's at work, they keep going. Henry's are indestructable
Miele - Bags cost a small fortune, but once again v.good.

the only machine that hasn't been mentioned in this 'hoover' thread so far is a 'HOOVER' (tm)... their best model is a PurePower - lots of power but plasticey - like most cleaners today.
Buy a Henry - mostly metal, robust, good power
