Chin up, Old Son I have holidayed in a fair few tropical climes and scattered thunder storms means - It is beautiful the whole day long, all hell breaks loose whilst you are dressing for dinner, and by the time you are on port and a cigar everything has dried out again already. Can be a bit humid but thats just something you have to acclimatise to - at least the torrential downpours remove some of the stickiness

The Yucatan Peninsula is on the edge of the rainforests so it can, and does, rain almost daily. The rest of the time it's dry and sunny. It's not like the UK where it's grey and drizzly for 6 months, it's sunny, followed by half an hour of torrential rain and in half an hour it's perfectly dry.
