Just been caught doing a tidy 96 mph on a 60mph stretch, got asked to produce my documents and the copper said I'd hear about the speeding offence as he would report me for that.
However, all I have is a producer. Does this mean I get reported for the offence through the producer ? coz I dont have anything else written down with the speed I was travelling at. He just wrote it on a post it note and popped in his folder.
Edited to add 'what sort of fine/points am I looking at do you reckon?

You have, of course, checked the signing requirements , and that they haven't made up their own.

Ian,
I think he meant the road signs warning you of the possibility of speed cameras.
IIRC a couple of coppers got off a speeding charges recently because the signs warning motorists of the potential for revenue generating camera's being in the area didn't have a black border

I wouldn't worry about the points I'd start thinking about how you are going to get to work when you get banned. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but >30mph over the limit is an almost guaranteed ban.

It was an old fashioned radar gun that I got caught by, not a camera.
No need to be going that fast, but then if I wanted to go slow, i'd have taken the bus !
If I get a ban, I'll get to work ok, my wife works for the same company, just means i've got to put up with her driving......

You'll either get a letter from the Chief Constable asking you to take a £60/3 point hit, or a court summons, stating that you're up before the magistrates on a particular date.
Prepare for a short ban; might be lucky and get off if you have a clean licence and beg but don't bank on it

He looked about 50 yrs old so I guess he'd have the hang of how to use it by now. More shocked when I saw 96 on the dial really, my wifes Puma felt like it loving it at the time !
Glad I wasnt in the scoob, god only knows how easy it is to sit at a ton when its dark and no traffic on a straight road with no junctions

I was caught on the motorbike three years ago 98 in a 60. It went to court and I got 6 points and a £555 fine but no ban
If you have Legal Cover on your insurance check to see if you are covered for Legal Costs - mine did which paid the Solicitors bill (£400)
Cheers,
Ian.

Cheers Ian, good point that, I have got legal cover, least if it goes to court, or more like when, I'll give them a call.
And yes Hobo_Jojo, I did break the law, I'm not denying or trying to run away from it, just wanted to know what to expect, thats all.
I've done far worse and got away with it, just glad I was driving my wifes Puma and not my Scoob, it was gonna happen sooner or later, but after 15 years of point free driving, it just happened yesterday.
Thats what ya git !
