Have a look at the hotels link from easyjet.
there are some really nice hotels at the side of the canal.
We were over there last weekend. stayed at the crowne plaza- bloody expensive and didn't use any of the facilities.

If you want to go as scummy as you can, "Bob's Youth Hostal" just down the road from the central station. 18 euro a night.
Dont expect the finer things in life though. Expect "Heineken happy hour" 1 euro a can from 8pm till midnight!

We wandered past Bob's youth hostel on a Sunday morning - looking down into the basement there were some sorry sights. Place sounded more like a disco than breakfast time in a youth hostel.
Kevin. (obviously getting on a bit now.....)
p.s. we stayed at the Crowne Plaza in the honeymoon suite - expensive...yes, but it was our honeymoon - double jaccuzi and stereo piped into the the bathroom...bliss...

Depends on what you're after,
If you just need a bed to kip in for a couple of hours, dont bother with a posh hotel, you wont even use half the stuff you're paying for.
Last couple of times I have stayed at the Manofa, its right on the Damrak, 5 minutes from the station, and about 10 seconds from the most interesting sights and sounds - he he!
Also stayed at the Vijaya not far from there. Best way is if you are going in a group, get a room for 3 or 4, works out £25 per night max, incl B&B, if you can get up on time! These are cheap and cheerful places - basic, but clean.
Have fun, but dont do what I did last time - went in January for my birthday, and although it was a little chilly over here, it was absolutely PERISHING over there!
Its not far, which is why I didn't think to check the weather.
Also try the Amsterdam Travel Service, if you run into difficulty, they have a number in London and are very helpful.
Have a good time!

www.winston.nl have themed rooms, very reasonable and right in the action between central station and the liedesplein (SP). book sooner rather than later as they get booked up quickly.
