What is the best way to go about a marketing plan ? Also think I should go about a business plan but not sure how to go about all of it since this is all new to me!
I'm in the middle of training to be a ADI (driving instructor).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
AJ

Pop down the Smiths/library and have a look at Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) course books, they usually have case studies in the back which you can adapt for your own use.
Its the 4 P's product, price, promotion, place (distribution), although if I remember right, its 7 for a service business.
I'll see if I can scan a couple at work and mail them through, don't have a scanner at home.
Cheers,
Richard

I have a marketing degree, though I did it a while ago, when I did it there was lots of info in books available in place like blackwells(those branches near major unis best) - and Im guessing you could borrow similar material from the library - if you get real stuck Ill try and dig some stuff out for ya

Go to Lloyds tsb, ask if you can have some info on setting up a business a/c (explain that its a new business). They should give you a business startup pack, which contains a cdrom. This has a usefull business plan part, which u fill in to your hearts content!
BTW, lloyds offer 12months free banking for new business a/c's.
Barclays offer 12months for non existing customers and 18months for existings customers. (I opened up current a/c just to get the extra 6 months! )
Good luck.

I have a PhD in marketing and the CIM diploma in marketing. I think I should be qualified. Tell me what you need it for (which industry) and the deadline. Also tell me your marketing knowledge so I know which basis you are working from. Email me if required.

Marketing strategy is:
where are we now (audit of current business)
where do we want to go (if for driving instructor - leading provider for young people/maturepeople/in the area/number 2etc)
Which way is best (which methods are available to reach that goal. steal from the competition etc)
how might we get there
How are you going to do that. Investment in what (ads, PR, special offers, unique product offering)
how do we ensure arrival - what measures are you going to put in place in order to make sure you reach that goal?

thanks for the advice. I'm with LLoydsTSB anyway so will pop in later to get the pack
Melina I'll send you an email soon if that's ok. It is going to be a driving school as a franchise from a major driving school but if you want to make more money then you have to do your own marketing.
