How about this.....

I don't think pedo's are that much removed from gays, as in they fancy something different from the "norm". The "norm" is to fancy the opposite sex, pedo's just happen to fancy children, I am not sure thay can suppress the urge - (maybe chemical castration?)

I dont think you "turn" into a pedo, you just ARE one - its your genetic make up, just like gays ARE gay.

I hear a lot of people say how they know some gay people and they are the nicest people they have ever met......I wonder how may people know a pedo (without knowing) and think they are one of the nicest people thay have ever met?

Maybe they should be given the medical help they (medicine/chemical castration) need, rather than be called criminals and sent to prison. I imagine some pedo's dont even want to be pedo's but can't help it.

Image Doctor - the difference being that gay men usually only "do tings" with other consenting gay men. Peado's usually abuse kids that cant protect themselves. If a person goes to the doctors and says Im a paedo help me, then fair play, help them all you can with drugs and whatever.

I like women, if I molested a grown women would you say just give him some drugs dont send him to prison?

Once they've molested kids they should go to prison and not be allowed out until they can prove ABSOLUTELY that they wont harm kids at all - or as far as Im concerned, never. Sorry, but if its a choice between upsetting a paedo by keeping him locked up for life, and ensuring that they dont abuse another kid, whatever the chances, Im for locking them up.

I believe that is a wonderful piece of natural justice. As a father myself if I was on the jury I could not convict..

I think it's generally agreed that Paedo's are sick, yet we lock them in prison. Prison is about reform, by definition a Paedo could never reform, they don't have the 'choice'. Permanent imprisonment, or castration would appear to be the only options that would protect the weakest and most vulnerable people in our society,our children. However we choose to uphold the human rights of the molestor and our kids can take their own chances.. What a society!!

Pedo's need to be castrated or killed. The only form of rehabilitation I could enviasge would be to wipe thier mind clean and give them a new personality, but this aint the 24th Century so we cant do that yet, so until then, just wipe them out of the gene pool.

I was just wondering about the legal side. I guess thats it's and open and shut case in so far that he did it. (don't flame me I know all about the till proven guilty - thats not my point)

Question is what would happen if the jury came back with not guilty when he did do it?

Would it start a trend where we could kill pedos and get away with it?

I'd like to know the answer Shark. It could have been hinted at in Tony Martin's case, but TM was a bit loopy and had pretty much premeditated the death of the next burglar.

I think the difference is in a question of law or fact. I forget which, but I think the jury should only decide the fact, not the law, so their options are limited. They've done funny stuff before though, wasn't it Sarah Mole who leaked s/thing from the Thatcher govt and the jury refused to convict her as a clear moral protest against her prosecution?

Anyway, what happened to diminished responsibility?

Hero IMHO. Sadly what choices do we have if the Police are not prepared to do something about it. The perv needed to be stopped before he ruined any more lives. Best thing for him.

Shark raised some interesting points, I hope they find him not guilty of murder thbis would make things interesting.

Also I wonder what effect a death sentance would have on this sort of crime. I am sure some do-gooder will say it is an illnness and not their fault. Maybe, but what about the kids and their right to have a childhood and be protected. This is what counts IMHO. No excuses

Regards Chemical castration it dos not remove the urges, these can be treated with tales but you have to take them, the only sure fire way is a lobotomy. Remove the urges once and for all.

Anyone who touched my kids in that way or in any kind of sexual way wouldnt be around to say he / she would do it again. I would probably run the ****** over then reverse to and fro for a bit. Would probably only get 6 points - from speeding away

When the courts lock someone up for life it should mean for the rest of the convicts life i.e. until they die.

But this has a huge cost for the tax payer and will end up with serious prison overcrowding...how long will it be before we get the death penalty back - for better or worse....

That reminds me - I voiced my concerns at the sentence that bloke in Scotland got with the Lord Advocate and got this response from someone on his behalf. They are planning an appeal citing an unduly lenient sentence:
