I am after a pressure washer and my local Halfords are doing the Karcher K650M for £199 including a 2 year warranty (everywhere else has them up for £299).

Anybody got one and are they OK ?

Thanks

I've got one and lets just say they'll take the paint off your car if your not careful. I've used it to clean my drive. Brilliant.

Great but you need to stand back otherwise you may take the paint off ... or the wax at least!

As previously mentioned, great for cleaning patios, paths and drives. Also for cleaning drains.

Took the paint off under my arches - then got a rotating head brush attachment - works superbly - rinses as it washes (no streaks)

Really great, deffo worth buying

You'll only take paint off the car if it's either about to come off anyway or you're a divver....yes I took a bit off my bonnet to be fair though it was new paint and I had the lance an inch off the paint for ages trying to shift bugs

Mines fooked at the mo my mate dropped it and cracked the pump, since then I've put the broken part down somewhere and can't find it

Enlarging the nozzle size will stop it removing paint.

Mine started pulsing - took it to local karcher repair place and it cost £55 to replace a couple of valves - but it was about 4 years old. Now working fine again.

I also have the 650 and it is very powerful. I managed to cut my hand open while trying to clean an old pushchair I was holding - idiot I know but it just sliced thru my skin - nasty.

My Dad has had one for years with no problems. I have had mine about a year and it keeps breaking valves in the lance so the water pours out the handle and doesn't stop.

pslewis - yes, it is pulsing because the filter is clogged up with dirt! unscrew the thing that the input hose clips onto and in there is a little plastic filter bucket about the size of a thimble - take it out and clean it.

regarding the lance, yes, mine and others on here started to leak - sent mine back to karcher and they sent me a free replacement (about 2 years old). search for other threads on here about it.

midget - thanks my man - I will look tonight!! Its driving me nuts!!

It was fixed a few months ago, as it was spewing water all over - came back ok ...... but withing a week it started pulsing.

An interesting thing though - if I restrict the water by folding over the inlet hose it STOPS pulsing??!! Indicating to me that the pressure IN is too high??!!

Any other ideas??

pete - because if the input pressure is lower it can still get enough flow past the filter and output is lower, at high pressure it needs more flow and therefore cuts out as it isn't getting the supply it needs.

the other reason why it might cut out is your input water temp - are you feeding it hot water by any chance?

Mine's great - I use it mainly to give the wheels and arches a good blast, but I'm pretty gentle with the paintwork. I actually tend to use it simply to save water over using just a hose.

Trouble is, it's bust right now - although it seems to work OK, there's water pouring out of the front of the unit, so something has obviously cracked or burst inside Annoyingly it's held together with tamper-proof Torx screws and I don't have the correct tool to dismantle it.

Anyone know of a good repair centre in the Guildford/Woking/Basingstoke area?

Question

No it wasn't!!

The man that Huxley knows fixed mine when it was leaking water, but then it started pulsing (didn't want to annoy Hux so kept quiet, you won't tell him will you?)

I am sure Hux will ask his man why its pulsing and get straight back to me - what do you reckon??

And NO I am not feeding in hot water!!??? I hope not anyway?! maybe its the recent warm spell we have been having?!

Mine pulses when the tank cant get enough water to pressurise it a squirt it out, try turning the tap on a little more, or i find that backing off the throttle a little usualy cures it!

Try it!

Cheers

yeah, same as POC said - it pulses because it's feed isn't good enough (i.e. mains pressure low or clogged filter etc)
