Cruise Film Steals British War Glory
Tom Cruise is set to star in a movie re-run of the Battle of Britain that suggests an American had a lot to do with winning it.Cruise will play US airman Billy Fiske in the new film, which, to the fury of RAF veterans, bears the provisional title of The Few.
The script has him lead the Allies to victory over the Luftwaffe, despite the fact that the real Fiske only ever flew three combat missions.
One of just 12 Americans involved in the World War II battle, Fiske never downed a German plane and was killed when he crash-landed his aircraft.
An industry insider told the Daily Star the film would never sell if a Briton had the starring role.
"The hero must be American. The public wouldn't have it any other way. To get bums on seats the writers twist the facts."
Hollywood has been making a habit of rewriting history in favour of the Americans.
Saving Private Ryan scarcely mentioned the British and Canadian contribution to D-Day and U-571 had the US - not the Royal - navy capture the *****' Enigma codebook.
Can just see it now they are going to remkae the dam busters using B-52's the americans will retake the falklands on our behalf and the american navy will defeat the spanish armarda and go on to defeat the Zulus with a new york drawling micheal cane.
FFS just because they have no military honours except for the 2nd world war and two gulf campaings whch all relied heavily on Brit expertise and Skills they have to nick any win they can.
Next they be telling us they won the battle of hastings.
Now I'm not anti American I just get very p*ssed off at the arrgance of the Curent Hollywood big shots, A generation of american kids are gonna grow up thinking that America fought and won the war single handly with out anyone else

Saw the story in the daily mail on Friday or Saturday and found a few stories on Google, so not its not Daily Star/Sun mongering. How can you be surprised they are doing this, look at The Patriot, Uboat 751, and the Plans for a mass Break out from Colditz by a load of Americans, even tho there was only one american in colditz and he had nothing to do with the escapes or ever attempt to escape.
