Disagree there, gotta be the worst tune I've ever heard from The Prodigy. The riffs are so cheesy, the first time I heard it I couldn't believe they'd release something so bad.
Haven't seen the vid but judging from their previous ones I'd imagine it's pretty mental.

Fair point. Certainly is a far cry from the days of the Android EP, but still has a lot of energy.
I'd say its more tailored to the commercial market than the older stuff with very much a 'Firestarter' feel about it.
The riffs are unmistakebly 'Prodigy' though, you have to admit.

You say its a step backwards, but being the first release from the new album I'd expect it to be in the same vein as their last release.
Most bands do this when they've been off the scene for a while, a very common marketing technique. People will hear the tune and think 'Firestarter' . . oh, yeah, I remember them. I'd be very surprised if the rest of the album is the same.

Freak - The rave generation will remember & request those tunes simply because they bring back memories, true for me also. My point is that the Prodigy have moved on from their early techno days, the energy is the same, but they have a much more punk/agressive feel now.

Yes dunk- but its not just older people- when the clubs i work at puts on under 18s nites i do them- they come up and ask for stuff like that from that era (Sl2 Ntrance, prodigy et al) as well as the currently big/charty stuff.... this is kids of 17 and under who wouldnt remember it from first time around....
Even on a normal night the amount of old skool stuff that gets requested by younger peeps is rather a lot- and the reaction is always good.
The early stuff (and most stuff from that era) you listen to it and you can feel the energy coming from it....newer stuff just doesnt do that at all in my personal opinion... Even fat of the land was not as good as the earlier stuff in terms of raw attitude and energy.
Experience and jilted generation were when they still had it- then it went sharply downhill in my personal opinion.

Can't disagree with that The Prodigy Experience is a pretty difficult album to surpass.
Another reason IMO, is that the older tunes were more 'dance' orientated, the new ones are more like a rock band would knock-out.
I try not to compare their old stuff with the new, just appreciate the talent and the courage to do something a little different from the norm.
My personal fave is 'Your Love', classic piano hands-in-the-air business
