A work colleage has broken down on the m11 the engine has seized in the car. its a N reg seat ibiza 70k miles on the clock, its only worth circa £500 and will cost more to fix, does he just get it towed to a scrappy or will a cheapo back street garage take it off his hands ??.
cheers

Do they not know anyone who can fit a new engine for them? I had my old car done by my dad & brother!
Its a much better option as now I have just sold it for £300 instead of scrapping it!

Yeah he's Australian, no other family over here, dont really want to get too involved. ANd there are no "cheap" garages around here that will do anything like this.

we've lots of South Africans contracting at the place I work. The ones who're just over here for 3-6 months have some very cheap run-a-rounds. One broke down, so he just got it scrapped and bought another.
If he's no breakdown cover, it's gonna cost him to have it towed anyway. Might as well get them to tow it straight to a scrappy.

If he can't repair it himself, or with help. You may as well scrap it, as there is no-way as you'll be able to get an engine and get a garage to fit it economically.
Especially when I just sold my Rover 216 for £550, which is absolutely imacculate (FSH, 1 owner 70k etc.) There are plenty other cars out there just as good and even cheaper if you look in the right places.
The whole idea of using bangers is that they can be scrapped without any massive loss.
I'm sure if you find a scrapper, and tell them where it is they'll take it off your hands

Scrappies will offer toffee 4 it so break it urself as it will be woth far more if u can b fagged 2 do it urself.
A shell will fetch @ least £300-500 depending on condition
Get him 2 break it & sell it off 4 far more profit than a breakers will offer!
