Depends on the word containing the R.

Some do roll their Rs, some don't.

And is it a rolling of the R or a grumble r where the r is pronounced in the throat?

Was chatting to the girl about this last night. We've just moved to Plymouth from Northampton. I've worked in London for the past 12 years but Originally come from Bolton. I don't roll my 'Rs'. There as silent as could be.
My girl on the other hand comes from Scotland originally, was brought up in Bristol and most definitely rolls her 'Rs'. Goes to work on a tractor etc etc.
We recon that the country is near enough divided between people who roll there 'Rs' and those who don't.
What about you and where you come from? Is it a silent 'R' or is there a heavy accent on it? And am I right in thinking that it's the coastal areas of England that have this attribute?
Bit of a strange topic but it seems to be something that divides the country. Those who do and those who don't.
