Anyone SVA'd a my1997+ jap import?

I'm importing a wrx type ra and i'm reading stuff about ESVA, noise regulation test etc 
...
I've recently imported a my93 300zx tt which just needed a good old mot
, but then anything upto 1997 needs the 'sva', then after that an esva?? wtf?
Anyone been through this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated to say the least!
ps I'm stuck in work so it's all getting a bit too much lol!! I wanna go home!
