A heavy Sussex bias as I lived there for a decade or so.
Hand in Hand, Kemptown, Brighton- brews its own beer and serves German Weissebeir on tap- top pub, why did they stop doing food?
Evening Star, Brighton, nr Rail Station- brews its own beer and is good value.
The Greys-Brighton, good beer, its own brewery again and belgian cuisine.
Highly rated in all kinds of food guides.
The Blackboys Inn, Blackboys, Sussex- top quality food, some dishes as good as even the best places in Paris. Harveys Ales.
Wookey Hole Inn, Wookey Hole, Somerset- offers nice modern and stylish rooms, top notch grub, real ales, real ciders and an awesome selection of belgian beer on draught. All in the heart of rural Somerset nr Wells.

This balloon attempt in St. Ives is annoying me in that I'm not down there, enjoying the booze in the fine pubs there... Then the thought of the pubs drifts to all other quality ale-houses countrywide, and gets me wondering what pubs you lot like across the nation...
Mine are:
1. Sloop Inn (St. Ives, must be sunny!)
2. Golden Lion (St. Ives)
3. Ferryboat Inn (Shaldon, again, needs the weather)
4. Jolly Sailor (Teignmouth)
5. Lifeboat Inn (Tenby)

quote: "every single pub in blackpool (only if lads ......no women!!) "
I prefer the pubs that are full of women in Blackpool. It's thew only place (other than the Bigg Market in Newcastle) where I've been sexually harrassed by a group of predatory women!

The Barge Inn, Honeystreet. here - Great location. Canalside in the heart of Wiltshire crop circle country.
The Coronation Tap in Clifton, Bristol here - Top Cider pub. Right next door to where I used to live. Lots of girls. <hic>
The Beach Hotel, Pendine. here Loads of motoring history, on the beach, insane punters and cheap.
