I've just been offered a brand new Praktica DCZ 4.1 digital camera fairly cheap.
I just wondered if anyone has any views on this model or Praktica digi cameras generally.
I've had a look around the web and it seems to me that Praktica digi cameras are not stocked by a lot of retailers, so it's difficult to compare prices etc.
I've looked on ciao.co.uk, but there's only one comment on one model in the whole Praktica digi range IIRC.

Cheapest I can find is €239 - how does your price compare?
The only information I can find on this model is in German, and even then it's just some online retailers who sell it. Important bits of the spec seems to be:
4.0MP
1/1.8" CCD
Storage on SD cards
USB interface
TV output
Power from 2xAA batteries
34-97mm equivalent zoom
ISO 100-400
Shutter speed 1/2 to 1/1000 sec
Aperture range f/2.9 to f/8
More details here
It's hard to tell much from the spec about whether it's actually any good or not - nothing leaps out at me as particularly remarkable. If it's cheap and you're happy to buy it 'blind' then go for it, but personally I'd look for a camera that I can hold, test, read reviews of in advance, and take back to a dealer if it breaks.

Here.
Try a Google search - the top search result (at idealo.de) lists several other retailers too. How's your German?
