There are plenty of people kipping at London Bridge in card board boxes, very cheap, plenty of social life, must bring your own bottle of meths tho and great rail links to the West End.
Do you remember those two blokes who walked from the Hippodrome to Tower bridge (3am), to spend the night on a cold wooden office floor???
LMFAO
edited for constructive content: I used to stay in the regent palace hotel, right opposite piccadily tube, when working late. We nicknamed it the fleapit, but its cheap £35 ish a night. - and theres and irish pub called callaghan's adjoined

Hello
I'm planning a journey down to the South Coast (from Midlands area). I would like to spend my first night in London. Could someone please advise a good place to stay overnight at a budget price?
I'm travelling by car so would prefer not to go too near the centre but at the same time, have easy access by rail/tube into the centre for a evening beer session!
Thanks in anticipation
Nick

Are you going down the M1, via Heathrow and M3? ie counterclockwise around the M25? If so I'd aim for a place near Heathrow so you can take Picadilly line straight into the West End.
Should be something cheap near there.

I always use this when booking hotels in London. Very good discounts the later you leave the booking. www.londontown.com

Hahahaha how could I forget! Not to mention that Iraqi protester who was asleep and got woken up by the p!ss head who tagged along for the walk with us down by Big Ben, fek that was funny, poor Iraqi bloke nearly jumped out of his skin being woken up at 3am, was funny watching him try and chase the p!ss head
In fact if you are coming for a night out in London, don't get any accomodation, its far more entertaining roaming the streets at night drunk watching all the other p!ss heads.
