Advice from an architect or someone with planning application experience
#1
Thanks - did a quick google search and came up with that.
Need someone to look at the plans for me if I provide the web link and planning application reference (by email)?
Not sure the plans would mean an awful lot to me other than how the high the building is going to be. The first plan was for a building of 22ft high that would have blocked virtually all the light from my back garden. My garden is approx 40ft long - is there a recommended max height for a building that close to residential property?

Apologies for the thread hi-jack
Whilst you are here Saxo Boy could you have a look at (link removed)
and then (link removed) as the plans for my neigbours new windows show two in the roof on the plan but 4 on the elevation.
Am I reading these plans properly ? If so, when is the best time to bring it to his attention to cause maximum inconvenience ?
Cheers
(How long before you get your own planning forum then ? )

saxo boy - YHM, thanks
Would also require help with a suitable response to get their plans chucked out. From what I can see the amended plans do not address my original concerns that the building is way too high!

I recently objected to some plans of a local business that backs on to my rear garden. I have since received a letter from the local council advising that they have submitted amended plans showing a revised south elevation with a 'hipped' roof to reduce the impact on residential properties.
What the hell is a hipped roof?
If anyone can help me I would be grateful if they could email me or post a thread so I can email them as I would like someone with expeience in this field to view the plans online and give me their opinion.
Many thanks in advance

That link adequately shows a hipped roof Internally the roof will have less volume and externally it should be a little less imposing
Review the amended plans and object again if you are still not happy
There might be an English version of this site that will allow you to view the plans online

Sheerin
The drawings are still in the Received stage which means that Wee Davie Allen hasn't had a chance to check them yet. Believe me he'll spot the error and will ensure that the elevations and roof plan match Unfortunatly I'll likely get the application Ah well, I can always go a p1ss around on the airfield for a while when I'm down there

For reasons to long to go into (septic tank, overflowing drains, not a pretty sight or smell !) Sheerin and my neighbour have cost me a fair bit of cash in the past that I shouldn't have needed to shell out.
I'd love for a chance deal some of that back out if poss. I thought about letting him install the four windows and then complain that it didn't match the planning application and get him to remove them or re-apply. Sounds like that won't happen though
Will he have to re-apply and re-inform all of his neighbours ?

Blair - I'll just wait my turn for a reply from saxo boy - you hijacker you!!!
Edited to say what really gets my goat about the planning application I'm fighting is this:
"The proposed new warehouse unit would be no higher than the existing outside storage racks that are located nearer to the boundary with No x. The unit is located on the northern boundary and would not cause any loss of light to the adjoining gardens."
It fecking well will - how can storage racks be the same as a 22ft high fecking building!!!

Scooby96 I'll have a look at you problem in a bit but I'm a little busy at the moment. Blair is easy to relate to since I approved his conservatory and hence know the property
I see your point re: the neighbour but unfortuantly 9 times out of 10 any attempt to complain/create problems makes more work for us and does little to affect them If you have a legitimate complaint by all means write in but ONLY if it relates to the development currently proposed They won't need to renotify to correct the drawings. Its unfortunate that the drawings HAVE to get sent for scanning the second they drop in at the Council. The downside is people often see drawings with mistakes but the upside is the public get to see the drawings very soon after getting their notification.

Cheers Kenny for the response - I can't really object to the plans as I can't see any of the proposed windows from my house. I definitely point out to him what a tw*t his architect is though !
I guess I'll need to plan my revenge another way
Oh and apologies to Scooby96 for the thread highjack - hopefully you'll get something sorted over your planning issue. Why not go and talk to your local planning office to discuss what you can do and what grounds you can appeal on - if Saxo Boy is anything to go by they should be a helpful enough bunch !
Cheers
Andy

Planning is open and accountable - there should have been no need to remove the address. But its si's site so I ain't calling the shots
No probs Blair - starting the scooby at 3am is usually a sure fire way to hack of your neighbours!!
As I always say the best planning advice comes directly from an officer of your local council. If you a polite and friendly most are willing to help. NEVER go in to the office in 'rant mode' as most planners just can't be bothered and won't be as helpful as they might have otherwise have been.
