home contents insurance advice???
#1
i rent a room in my sisters house as many of you know. However i have never signed a contract as a tenant and im not sure if her insurance company know that i reside there.
my problem is that she is currently in Oz until December and i need to make a claim on her house insurance.
a) will my stuff be covered by her house insurance???
b) can i make a claim on her house insurance without her here???
c) can i make a claim on her house insurance if there is no proof that i live there????
any advice would be greatly appreciated guys. i dont know what i can do and i have to sort this problem out ASAP.
Thanks in advance!!!

my 2pence worth as no other reply yet...
Firstly IMHO DONT tell the insurance company you are renting a room.
If your just a guest in the house your stuff should be covered, but it WONT be if your a paying tenant!
If you've got the policy docs have a read through first to establish what is insured and in what respect the cover applies.
Only after checking where you stand should you contact the insurance company, but don't leave it too long.
Cant you pretend to be your sister? Prob not technically legal but may simplify the claim.
