Folks and my little sister went to a resort on the Black Sea. They flew into Varna - I think the resort was a 30-45min drive along the cost.

They loved it. Great weather, friendly locals, cheap as chips and reltively clean. Like most Eastern European countries there is a problem with pick-pockets and robbery, but nothing more than I'd expect in any major city. They never felt threatened and even wanted to go back this year.
