..and assume that this simple action gives them the right to pull out, regardless of what might be coming up on the outside.
The next time some mindless idiot, probably in a volvo or a people carrier, strays into my path without a care in the world, I'm going to accelerate into the back of them to teach them a lesson.

What is the strange concept of 'indicating' you mention?
I've never witnessed any of it around my neck of the woods.
Surely those bits of orange plastic at the corner of your car are merely for storing spare bulbs.

Highway Code when I learned it said Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre.
So straight after giving the signal you should be able to manoeuvre. If you've waited until the correct moment to give the signal (sounds like the subject of the complaint above did not).
What I hate is the fact that the survival code on most roads should actually be Mirror, Signal, Mirror, Manoeuvre. Because when the guy behind sees you indicating, he immediately changes his driving behaviour from previous, usually accelerating to get past you before you pull out.

Here a local newspaper columnist said the turn signal is used as an afterthought. The typical driver will hit the brakes and signal at the same time, so you have no advance notice of them braking. Some of them begin to signal only after they are actually into the turn.
And these days, half the drivers have a phone in one hand, so indicating turns takes a second priority to whatever conversation they're having.

Usually Mercedes and Lexii drivers are the worst at NOT indicating their intentions....seems because of the vehicle they drive they are exepmt from having to perform such mundane things.

Just got shouted at by a driver of a Range Rover at a roundabout. She had right of way but hadn't indicated to turn right from opp direction from me. I slowly moved forward as she wasn't signalling, thinking she was going straight on
Almost lost the nose of my car, all I got was verbal abuse from her passenger...
I followed her into Safeway carpark...'oh dear, did I forget to signal? have so much on my mind because I forgot my shopping list so signalling must have slipped my mind'
no apology no nothing
and before anyone says 'typical woman driver', I am a woman driver too, but I remember the important things...like when to use that stalk sticking out of the steering column..the indicator stem
