As there has been much debate recently centred around the burdens on the tax payer of smoking etc - what are the views on this - is it an incentive?
"The Government is considering tax breaks for thsoe who live and active lifestyle to try and tackle the growing 'couch potato culture'.
The proposals put forward earlier this month at the inaugural meeting of the Activity Co-ordination team, seek to capitalise on the sucessful 'get fit' fiscal incentives instigated in Scandanavia, where companies get tax breaks if they build a gym, replace snack dispensers with water coolers and bring in healthier food in canteens.
In Finland there is and 'exercise' tax break and 70% of the population tkaes 30 mins to work out 5 times per week. In England, just 32% of us exercise - and that is mostly through manual labour, not by actively persuing sport.
Physical inactivity costs the country £2bn a year and contributes to 54,000 premature deaths - something the Chief Medical Officer predicts is a 'Health Time Bomb'"

Personally my questions would be: a) Where does he get his facts from and b) how much does physical activity costs in terms of injuries etc?

They'll just make you have to keep working instead so they don't have to pay pensions anymore! It won't be long before the "doublespeak" starts to say it is selfish to expect any kind of a pension, unless you are in government or on a Board of Directors.

Too much bl@@dy interference again. Cant these buggers get a proper useful job rather than continually think of ways to plague the citizens about this and that?
Humans have evolved to be what they are and they love drink, drugs, pizza, **** and sitting down. It's the basic operrating system as installed by God(s). Ce la bloody vie!
There is more to life than longevity, but smoking **** is really stoooopid and I'm happy to actually have this purchase tax increased gently over the years. That's as far as I go as a dictator/bully/'you dont wanna do that' nanny!
