I have recieved through the post a penalty charge notice for Northampton.
to the best of my knolwge there was not a ticket on the car + i was in MK when it happened.
I cannot find the parking payment stub from MK nor did i buy anything whilst there, just went over to loo around Xcape.
They have my car colour down as Black, it is in fact Pirite (dk met maroon)
Am i OK as their information is not correct???
Many thank
Paul

It's also possible that the warden got the reg. number wrong. I once had a ticket made out to ABC132D when my reg was ABC123D. I just ignored it as any reminder chasing for payment wasn't going to be sent to me.
Some poor sod would have ended up confused when they got a payment demand for a ticket they never knew about.

When they issue a parking ticket, they're supposed to copy down details from the tax disc as well. You could make representations, and include a photo of your car to prove it's a different colour.
Westminster City Council are most likely to take you all the way to an appeal, but if you call their bluff and know you're not liable, they will probably fail to contest the appeal. Other councils seem quite reasonable in the face of good evidence.
