Consumer rights question?

What are your rights if you buy goods by mail order then decide you don't need them. If they are unused, do you have the right to return them (at your cost) for a refund?
Can you be forced to take credit notes and pay a handling charge???

I didn't think you could be forced to accept a handling charge as well as no refund - just some poncy credit note.

I think the distance selling regs give you 14 days cooling off for mail/telephone/internet ordered purchases made on a personal basis (ie they don't cover purchases made on company credit cards).
