Saw this a few minutes ago:
The world of motorcycling is in mourning after reigning British Superbike champion Steve Hislop was killed in a helicopter accident in his native Scotland.
Hislop, who was 41-years-old, was one of motorcycling's most colourful characters.
He was flying his helicopter alone near Hawick in the Scottish Borders when the vehicle crashed and he is thought to have been killed instantly when the helicopter burst into flames.
Lothian and Borders Police said a farmer raised the alarm at 4.50pm yesterday after coming across the wreckage of the aircraft while tending livestock - the accident could have happened earlier.

A sport has now gained another empty space on the start up line. Steve was a real gentleman to all who knew him, watched him and loved him. Condolences to his family and frends in this difficult time. Motorcycle racing has lost a real king of the sport, let his memory ride on into the future for ever for thos new in the sport to follow and admire.

Gutted, remember seeing Steve win the Senior TT on the Norton in '92, thought he may one day make a return to racing on the Island, bet he's having a wee dram with Joey now!
