Anybody got a Road Angel with the lazer detector ????
Went through an obvious "safety van" trap on M6 yesterday - not a bl00dy peep !!! Fortunately was being a good boy
Does yours work ??? If yes -- how much warning do you get and where have you positioned the sensor ???
Any info much appreciated

I think the laser detector will only work if you're being "gunned" by the Officer in the van. It might well be that he didn't think you were breaking the limit, so didn't bother. I have a Valentine One and those vans can target you from along way off, and you have no warning at all. It bleeps when the laser is on you - by which time they have their reading.

The lads over at the Lancer Register did some experiments with detectors and found that they didn't really work against hand-held guns. Something to do with the beam being very narrow and short-lived. They did find that jammers were quite effective though ...

Jammers are also illegal where detectors aren't.
Most of the detectors are a bit iffy, and are most likely to work when you have already been got. I passed one this morning on the A322, was booting it, but know they sit there so was on the lookout - braked, pulled in, let the MX5 go tearing past - LOL!!! Not a beep from my Angel, think I clocked them soon enough

A jammer has to detect before it jams, no detection and yer dun
Most road safety vans are set up for close distance 75m – 100m so that the target is large and the spread is small and less easy detected
Target areas are vertical surfaces for reflection ie index plate front / rear and front and rear window screens from over bridges
So your detectors will need to be in all four positions, to even make use of an illegal jammer
Perverting the course of justice is more serious offence than speeding.
