Took Doggie out for his usual constitutional this morning at about 08.45 , rounded the corner out of my road and lo... one police car blocking the junction just up from us.
Proceeded to walk towards park / shops to witness more police measuring the road surface.
Then saw a green landrover stationary in the road - no other vehicle in site.
On the way back from newsagents, walked right by said vehicle. Noticed the front was freshly washed - haven't heard the details yet but suffice to say , this looks seriously bad. We have a lot of seniors living nearby who insist on crossing the busy main road by means other than the provided pelican crossing. Traffic comes whipping round the bend a few yards short of this "incident" at astonishing speeds, and I can see some poor sucker just was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Judging from the time taken by the police to get their measurements and the fact that there were...not 1 not 2 not 3 not 4 not 5 but 6 ..... yes 6 police cars present , I should think the victim is now playing a harp somewhere.
Sobering way to start the day.

Exactly Luke, and the fact that most people who dodge this particular crossing are OAp's is really disturbing. The crossing is soooo close to the shops too, no need to dice with death.

I had a close call this AM
blooddy idiot parked outside her house, less than 50 yards from a 90 degree bend. and needs to go opposite way.
what does she do - 3 point turn (very slowly)
this is on an A road - luckily for her (and me) only a 40 limit - and I was doing less.
but still had to swerve across to opposite side of road to get round the back of her.
then she looks bemused when I pip her to let her know I am about !

Most people seem to have forgotten that the hooting of your horn is a warning you're there, and just take it as a sign of you being cross with them.
Always nasty to see the aftermath of an accident. Certainly makes you think.
