Red Sea resorts- any recommendations?
#1
Thinking about going to one of the Egyptian Red Sea resorts for a holiday in Sept/Oct and wondered if anyone on here had been and could recommend anywhere. We're not hardcore divers but like a bit of snorkling and a lot of relaxing!

i went to a little resort called El Gouna a couple of years back and i can highly recommend it. Its outside of Hurghada and is a manmade resort especially for tourists. There is a regular bus service which is good and clean and can take you out to the more traditional places.
El Gouna has everything you need in it....restaurants, water sports, and entertainment.
We got upgraded from our 3* hotel in the heart of El Gouna...to the Movenpick Hotel resort....a 5* hotel right on the sea front. it set about a 5 minute walk from the main El Gouna resort and its absolutely gorgeous. they have their own scuba diving instructors (mainly English) if you want to do your PADI, as well as loads of other water sports. There are lots of trips you can do including a day trip to a snorkelling and diving area which is unspoilt and fantastic. took an underwater camera with me and got some amazing shots. Did another trip to the Nile and the valley of the kings and Queens, as well as a desert trip on a Bedouin Safari. It really was a holiday to remember. El Gouna is a very relaxing place to go to because you dont have to leave the resort unless you want to.
other than El Gouna....my parents went to Sharm El Sheikh which is the more well known diving areas on the Red Sea. As far as i know from what they told me, it was just as fantastic as my trip there.
just dont let your women walk about on their own!!!!!

here is a link to an El Gouna site.
hope it helps
sorry forget to mention....we got ours last minute from a holiday agency and were upgraded when we arrived because our 3* hotel had overbooked. We paid £400 pp for 14 nights B&B and ended up in a 5* luxury hotel.
so it doesnt have to be expensive
