Someone posted this at work - Bullsh1t or not???


New speed trap system has been installed on the M4 between Reading and
Swindon. Cameras have been inset into small pillars placed periodically
along the motorway and these will measure the average speed between them -
they are linked directly to DVLA.


The system came into effect on 14th July - so beware!!

I do hope not, Swindon - Bracknell on the M4 is the only place left that I drive where I can put my boot down a bit.

There has been a lot of work along the M4 recently, mainly to install quite a few warning signs, especially around the A34 junction.

There is also a lot more inductive pads in the road itself now than there were. I'm guessing it is all for traffic monitoring.

I haven't seen any "poles" as such but there again I haven't been looking.

I'd be pretty sure it's tosh - speed cameras aren't the DVLAs job are they?

There are a number of cameras on the stretch from the A34 junction towards Swindon. As far as I've ever been able to tell, these are purely for traffic monitoring purposes.

I've never (and I use that bit of road a fair bit) seen the SPECS style cameras there.
