well the best thing to do is just go on the lowest tarrif the do, like a 15 pound a month one, and either pay the remaining balance off or just give then 30 days notice when the contracts 11 months old.

and having a new number will speed the hole thing up too...

the lowest tariff? That's err, nothing in some cases?

Anyway, to the question, depends on the contract, basically your normally signed up to 12 months, so 12 x your monthly fee less the number of months you've alreadt paid.

Why anybody agree's to a minimum contract is beyond me, but there you go.

Or go onto O2's best tarrif, the one with loads of free minutes and only use it for the fee stuff.

At the same time go with your new provider and use their inclusive stuff only.

That way you should only pay the minimum on each contract.

No point in paying out on a contract that you're not taking advantage of?????????? They all offer freebies in their minimum contracts.

Maybe because you can get the latest handsets for free if you do and most people dont think keeping the same phone for 12 months is that bad.

Simon.
