My wife is a childminder. It is a requirement of her registration to have smoke alarms linked together via cable. We currently have smoke alarms fitted which are not linked in together which we are told are not acceptable.
I do not want to fit linked cables between these alarms as I ve just decorated and dont want them draped aound the rooms either.
Social services say this is on the advice of the fire service. I argue that if they are all linked and a fire occurs then how do you know where the fire is if they are all going off at the same time.Wheras if they were separate at least you would have a rough idea where the fire was so you could escape that area.
Any fireman out there that could verify what is the view of the fire service.
chip.
