Old news about the crash I realise but here are the details of the punishment.....
BBC News story
As a PS to the BBC piece the original fine and ban was £3000 and 30 months which will be reduced if he completes the naughty driver's course.

It's even funnier if you imagine him reporting it in his sanctimonious voice-overs:
".... and THIS famous person put his life -- and that of many other innocent road users -- at risk when he got behind the wheel of his Mercedes while THREE TIMES over the drink drive limit. Luckily his STUPIDITY didn't cost anyone their lives -- but it DID cost him £2,000 and a 23 month BAN ..."
Serves the tw@t right

Rupert Pardoe, defending, said the producers of Police, Camera, Action! had decided following the incident that it was no longer appropriate for Stewart to present the show.
HMMMM that was a hard decision to make wasnt it

'What makes this story even more incredible is that he has been banned from driving (over the drink/drive limit) BEFORE !!!!!!!! - why don't some people ever learn? '
Indeed he was banned before. Once I can forget but TWICE? What a hypocrit presenting that show about the dangers of drink driving!

He should never be allowed to hold a driving license again, as a victim of a drunk driver, in a serious RTA in which I nearly died, people like him have no respect for the law at all, AND if it were anybody else they would have gone down.

Does that mean he's bot dead pointy ears and a fishing rod?
He was perfect for that program, who else could narrate in such a patronising and condescending way! He should have gone down for sure.

I agree My sister got hit head on a few years ago by a drink driver who was at the time disqualified for a previous drink drive offence He tried to drive the car off but it was so fooked so he got out and ran instead the police had to get the helicopter out and everything to find him but when it went to court the w@nker didn't show up My sister lost her £2500 car due to him and got injured and never saw a penny and no doubt he is still doing it
Anyway what I am trying to say if people do that then they don't care if they have a license or not

My brother was very nearly killed 15 years ago by our pissed up uncle (5+ pints of guiness). If you think its lenient now (which I agree it still is) 15 years ago it wasn't even a slap on the wrist. He got banned for 3 months (yes months not years) and got fined £275. As he was in the forces he also got fined by them - a whopping £50!
Anyone caught drink driving should be strung up - and flogged to within an inch of their own life.
