Cheers Chris, Al', it's Jack, ok!
It is often stated that the Union Flag should only be described as the Union Jack when flown in the bows of a warship, but this is a relatively recent idea. From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. Such use was given Parliamentary approval in 1908 when it was stated that "the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag".

Well he did keep his head down..... And from all accounts was a good bloke. But he was still the husband and father of 2 very greedy people. Lots of money changed hands.......

Well I learnt today he was a millionaire before Maggie ever got to power (made his money from oil, I understand).
You've got to admire the bloke -- after all, he did come up with the phrase "about as much use as a one-legged man at an ****-kicking contest"

Can't wait for his old bag to pop off. I'd love every radio station to play Elvis Costello "Tramp the dirt down" for the whole day.

BB.
It certainly is. Dig it out, pop it on, skip Veronica (great track) and go straight to Tramp The Dirt Down. then fantasise about the day the wicked witch of the south sheds this mortal coil.
"When England was the ***** of the world,
Margaret was her madam."

He made his own way in the world, supported his wife and did not use his position to be controversial.
Whatever you think of his wife, and you are entitled to your own opinion of her, I don't think it justifies wishing her an imminent death.
