Soul Nation on Channel 4 tonight 11.10

"The first in a new three-part series in which DJ Trevor Nelson goes on a personal journey, mining his own past as well as 50 years of underground culture, to present his take on how soul music has influenced Britain's culture, and in turn how Britain has contributed to the history of R&B.

In the first programme Trevor explores how British youth first fell in love with R&B and how it was kept alive during the 1970s with the Northern soul scene, a precursor of the 1990s acid house rave scene. Trevor checks out various Northern shrines (including the site of the legendary Wigan Casino) and meets the characters who are still dancing on. He also meets various stars that graduated from this peculiar, twilight world, including Djs Norman Jay and singers India Irie and Leee John. "

 

Nice one sounds interesting. 50 years eh? Didn't think soul went back that far... apart from The Flamigos or Inkspots maybe??

I dont have a Video... can you burn to cd on avi or DivX?

 

Actually, I was planning to do that with some other stuff I have on VHS. As soon as I get a firewire card I can do it.

I just literally gave my vhs away as I hadnt used it in about 2 years. But, if you can supply a vid I know someone that still has one that can convert to divx... I would be most appreciative.
