Anyone think some of the people who get these awards are really worthy of them.
Take Jamie Oliver for example.Hes just a TV chef unlike Blanc, Mossiman etc.
David Beckham. More famous for his off pitch antics and hairstyles than his footy. His manager says hes a perfect role model. For who I wonder.
Arsen Wenger and Gerard Houlier. Arent they foreign.
Be nice to see a few more worth people getting these awards for a change.
Chip.

Jamie Oliver... pillock!
David Beckham... pillock!

More importantly those 2 are undeserving, Bob Geldof is 'foreign' but at least deserved his 'award'.

The awards that you have criticised all have valid points to them.
Lets start with Jamie Oliver first. His award is not for being a famous telly chef, it was for he work he did when starting Fifteen. He gambled all his own money to start a restaurant that employed 15 effectively un-employable youngsters giving them a career and some self respect. If he had failed he'd would have lost his own money. The restaurant is now well established and continues to work with young people, each year they have a new intake of fifteen.
Sting whilst being a bit of wally in my opinion has acheived great success in his recoding career, which on its own would be worthy for most, after all it got Mick Jagger a knighthood, but he has also worked hard in the past to highlight various environmental issues.
As for Houlier and Wenger, there awards are purely honourary. They are for there acheivements as managers in the English game. Lets not forget there are plenty of other managers out there with similar awards. I would have thought that two double's, and your team never having finished out of the top two in the premiership during your time in charge would be worthy of recognition, even if he was in charge of the Arseholes, similarly winning a treble of sorts is pretty good going for Scallies.
Another important thing to bear in mind abot these awrds is that looking at all the awards given this time, the largest number of recipients were nominated by the public, the so called people's awards.

Was not Oliver paid by the BBC to do this programme then. I think so. All kitchens have juniors in them anyway. Its just that all his efforts were recorded for TV.
