'DON'T COME BECK, DAVID'
David and Victoria Beckham are preparing to fly home from America - with blasts from critics ringing in their ears.
An article in the New York Post was headlined 'Don't Come Beck'.
US columnists rounded on the couple, who have been holidaying in the States.
Post writer Tom Sykes said the Beckhams were "utterly unrecognisable" in America, despite their high profile visit which he described as a "self-promotion tour".
He wrote: "Posh and Becks, as they are known on the other side of the Pond, had hoped by now they would be as famous in the United States as they are in their native Britain.
"Instead, they're going home as anonymous as when they arrived."
Sykes said the problem was few in America knew what the couple were famous for.
He panned Victoria's singing career and said David was the star of a sport that, in America, "is largely played by young girls".
USA Today commented: "Only in the USA can David and Victoria Beckham stroll the streets unnoticed.
"While some celebrities might relish such anonymity, the English duo - wildly famous everywhere else in the world - aren't used to being ignored."
The Beckhams will fly into a new storm when they arrive back in Britain, with controversy raging over Manchester United's attempts to sell David to Barcelona.
ALL COZ HE WANTS TO MAKE HIS LADY HAPPY I LUV BECKS BU THAT POSH FOR FECKING FAME ME THINKS IS EMBARRISING BECKS

I think perhaps some people are being a little harsh here.
OK - neither are the most inspiring talkers (and I agree at Victoria's 'singing').
But, give the guy some credit. He is a fantastically talented footballer, who has saved this countries bacon countless times (christ how we missed him in that excuse for a football match earlier in the week). I bet most of you would have been cheering if he'd been playing and scored (and come on - I bet you did when he scored the penalty against Argentina).
He is a totally dedicated family man and husband - he doesn't drink, is a dedicated athlete and acts as a role model for 1000s of youngsters. He doesn't go around saying how bloody marvelous he is (Robbie Williams - please take note) and expecting people to bow down to him.
They've got a house near us and they are regularily spotted out shopping doing all the normal things that the rest of us do. Hardly courting publicity. I think it is a case of not believing everything you read in the paper!

Well said
Too many people happy to knock them for what they are not.
Heard this the other day, may have been Jack Dee
"i get a bit bored of people knocking Becks, you do not hear people saying that Stephen Hawkin is f**king smart but really crap at football"
I would rather have kids looking up to the likes of him than a lot of others.

The guy ain't that thick either. He has some very good people around him and he markets himself very well. There are a lot of his counterparts who have blown their money and their talent. He is also not so stupid as to realise that he has a limited shelf life - so as the saying goes, 'you make hay while the sunshines'.
Good luck to him.
Chris
Good luck to him.

Alas. If so why read thread and post on it
Daved plays quiet good football. Don't know what he is like.
His Mrs comes across as a tw@t but don't know her.
Both got more cash than me so they must be doing something right.

They make me laugh. Anyone who thinks they are being serious when they do things like the thrones at the wedding needs to lighten up, they were and do take the **** out of everyone, i like that.
I was in the States for 3 weeks when Posh and Becks went over and his face was on the front page of some of the papers saying he was the top paid sportsman blah blah, none of my friends over there had a clue who he was, which was pretty funny.
I remember the stick the guy got after getting sent off in the world cup, he endured 12 months of abuse from the morons who go watch football live, it took real character to just get on with the job and ignore the real thick people in the football stadium. David isnt thick, quite the oposite. His wife cant sing for $hit, but since when has that mattered in the modern age of music?
Good luck to them.

Can't see why people are knocking them unless it is "green eyes" again.
Chris put it very well. He does his job excellently, behaves himself, doesn't knock other people and lives a good moral lifestyle. Can't see that much wrong with his wife either really-seems to be a good mother.
So what if they are worth a lot of money. They are entitled to spend it as they wish too. Can't blame them for accepting fully legal remuneration. I don't follow football and I think footballers pay is obscenely high. But that is the fault of those who pay such large sums to watch it and the football employers who charge so much money to the fans. Can't blame the footballers for their salary.
