How about we join the standard Euro currency if Europe selects English as the standard language? Just had this brainwave at Little Chef while reading the Daily Mail :-)

But English already is the standard language. Most Europeans speak it better than we do.

 

OK, then why not rename the Euro 'The Pound'. Sorted :-)

 

I've always thought that the single most common obstruction to trade within the EU, is the lack of a common language.

Still don't think everyone taking up English would be a good deal on us signing away our political independance.

Can't see how the EU will continue anyway, unless they reform the CAP.... reform that, and the French will no longer be the big fan they are now.

 

As long as Eu doesn't run our finances,dictate our laws, own our police force, dictate the businesses we are allowed to have, tell us how to run our private lives, disenfranchise us, force the euro on us, make us into a mere region of Euroland rather than our own country, kill our veto, inflict even more "PC" nonsense on us, and have B Liar as European president, amongst a whole lot of other measures, then I can stand Europe quite happily. On the other side of the English Channel.
