What is the cheapest way to use a phone in Spain to phone the UK?
I'm considering buying a Spanish PAYG sim card for my contract mobile to ring home rather than the extortionate O2 rates.
Anyone done this? Is it possible? Do they sell them?
All help would be appreciated

You can use Movistar Activa (probably the best), Amena, or Vodafone/Airtel.
Most shops sell credit or you can buy more from bank cash points, just put your card in and choose "Recharge Telephone" I think it's labled something like "Recarga servicios de movil".
I only topped up last Thursday adn I've already forgotten the words...
You can use any liberated handset. Or you can buy phone cards to use in the normal phone booths.
Other tips - to dial UK replace the first "0" with "0044" e.g. to dial a UK number in the UK such as "0123xxxxx" in Spian you dial "004423xxxxx".
Simple as that.

A Spanish PAYG will not really be much cheaper than O2.
My suggestion would be to get your family to call you on your Spanish PAYG or in the Hotel.
This company www.telediscount.co.uk has amazing rates to phone abroad from the UK. Since I discovered them a few months ago, I have saved a fortune on my wife calling Poland.

How long are you going for?
How many calls do you expect/expect to make?
If a pay as you go sim is 20 - 25 quid, thats 25 quids worth of calls and texts you can make before you break even.

There's that opionion or there's mine.
I lived in Spain for 4 years....
Using a Spanish card means youdon't pay teh UK roaming prices which are generally and extra 50% on top of the phone call.
