Earlier today i was driving down a section of road that i regularly use. It's got a 50 speed limit, and there are 3 speed cameras which i pass on a nearly daily basis.
So I'm driving along, and i go through one of these cameras at 52 mph - as indicated by GPS system - and the sodding thing flashes me.
Now, whilst i know that technically i was going too fast, surely the camera cannot be set that low?
Anyone ever been flashed by a camera whilst being below the speed limit?
There's a camera near me that i can set off on the other side of the road whilst there's nothing going through, i'm wondering if that's what happened.

I'm not too concerned, but a little confused.
I don't want points
*sniff*

I have been flashed three times. Once doing an indicated 33 in a 40 limit (following a copper at the time), once doing an indicated 49 in a 50 limit, and once dor stopping at a red traffic light - all 3 in different cars. Unsuprisingly, I didn't get done for any of these demonstrations of legal driving. So yes, they can be set off on occassions wrongly.

Yeah, i was examining that - up to about 60 miles an hour the gps reads 3 mph or so below the speedo - over 60 it's about 5 mph different. But i often drive through these cameras on this road at indicated 55mph.
i suppose they might have got wise to that and dropped the sensitivity

Right, went through the camera again today to see if it was fake or not, and it appears that it is fake, however i was doing 45 (indicated by speedo) and was catching up with the car in front, and the camera flashed us both. So there's obviously something wrong with it. Hurrah.
So the next question is, how do you report a knackered camera? I don't think it's fair that a load of people are going to be spooked by it...
Cheers.

and the 10% + 2mph is a GUIDELINE. If they want to do you for 31mph in a 30 they CAN. However, most won't as they have to prove it and a mph here or there can be 'accounted' for by various factors hence the guideline as you won't be able to 'account' for 5mph extra in a 30 so they know they can secure a result. Depends on how much confidence they have regarding the accuracy of the camera, the lines on the road etc. so to cover their bases they normally set the cameras a certain degree higher than the limit.
