PDC on video recorders

Programme Delivery Control - anyone had any real success with it working? Do any of the main four terrestrial channels actually broadcast PDC info?
I've tried a few recordings using it on my Thomson jobby, but it doesn't really seem to work. Some recordings start a minute into the program, and others chop bits off the end. I lost the last 10 minutes on HIGNFY on Friday night 'cos it mysteriously stopped recording halfway through.
I thought PDC was supposed to chop off the adverts, and guarantee that the video recorded the entire program that's selected..... It doesn't seem very reliable at all though!

Looks like I'm in the minority here. My VCR records everytime using PDC and I've not noticed a problem with it yet. I think you need a reasonable strength TV signal though otherwise some machines stop recording if the PDC signal drops out momentarily.

Got in my old-ish VCR. It doesn't chop out the advets (do you mean the ones during the show?) but it should start the recording just as the program is about to start.
I've found the following....
BBC (1 and 2) have PDC and it works perfect. Starts the recoding just as the anouncer introcused the program.
ITV - No PDC. Have to switch it off for this channel
Channel 4 - Works great. Recording starts about 1 min before the program starts
Channel 5 - Works. Only problem I've had is when a late night film has a news break. On a couple of occasions it's stopped the recording at that point! Don't set PDC for this channel now, unless it's a short program.
On the occausions that a program has started lated, 9/10 PDC has started recording at the new time and got the whole program. Not tried in on terrestrial digital yet. Not sure if they have it...
