Try any of the Ibis/Campanile/Climat type. They all have websites in English if you want it, and between 'em, must have over 100 hotels in and around Paris.

Heres the email addy of one I stayed at earlier this year. Cheap but very tidy and nice staff. 10 min walk from the Eiffel Tower. Easy access to the metro.

I am working out in Paris at the moment and stay in the Mercure - clean and tidy but nothing special. It is not far from Opera.
