Yeah - thought the same 'I've got a $100m in the bank and I don't really care' kind of look.

I doubt Irvine will ever win the award for 'Mr Nice Guy', but you can't help laughing and thinking he's done pretty well.

Where did it go wrong? Nowhere, he knew he ain't going to be a champion and just opted for the 'get as much money as i can' option.

I like Eddie Irvine, says what he thinks, made his money and got out whilst the going was pretty good.

F1 is a poorer place for loosing his personality from the sport, the rest seem a bit like robots.

...and Schumacher and Montoya both seemed to moreorless ignore Raikonnen at the end of the race. Is it something he (didn't) said?

Thumbs up

"a prat and a waster"

You could maybe call him a prat and be somewhat justified as that is a matter of personal opinion. However he obviously isn't a waster as his succesful businesses and F1 career have proved.

Green eyed monster? The guy is still fairly young, rich, succesful with women and has the ***** to stand up and say what he thinks. Probably has a lot of ego too but that's par for the course with F1 drivers.

He seems to be his own man and I respect that a lot.

"George, when did it all start to go wrong?"

If he didn't care about his career as a driver why does he spend EVERY interview saying how much he doesn't care and how not being World Champion isn't important.

Good man Eddie. I always thought he was Edward, so amusing that he's Edmond. Thought that name disappeared with my grandad's generation.

He's not still famous at all. No-one outside of F1 fans would really know who the hell he is, and it'll only get worse as the years pass. He'll grow up one day and find himself lonely, old and washed up, with a drink problem.

i dont think so!

The guy is constantly taking the **** out of the establishment, he cracks me up.

He isnt the playboy some people think either, he has a young daughter and spends a fair bit of time with her.

Eddie seems to have done incredibly well for a guy with average driving tallent, good for him.

He's about as funny as treading on an upturned plug.

Charmless and arrogant, not surprised his wife left.

Average driving talent?

Does that mean I've got a shot at an F1 drive if that's all you need?

all you need is to be rich to start off with, spend your youth driving carts and then get an F1 deal. There are a few great drivers out there but I reckon that many of them are no more talented then your average club driver. They just have more practice. Remember when you used to get the likes of whasisname Suzuki buying their drives? Ok, he was rubbish but he still made the 110% cut.

Charlie.

I agree. Never did buy all that hype about what mega talents/athletes they are. Shumi/Senna/Prost/ et al were the real deal, but the rest are not super heroes.

Sad IMHO.

Anyone who has to have a t-shirt with their name on in bright orange is in serious need of a lot of expensive psychotherapy.

He's an attention seeking braggard who consistently proved that his talent couldn't match the high expectations that his mouth keeped on setting. So he then belittled the things that he couldn't get because he didn't have the talent. Sad, very sad.

Top marks to him for living the life, but I can't help but think his image of himself is rather better than everyone else's, and that it's all rather superficial.

Rather sad in my books I'm afraid. I'm not a fan. And I'm not jealous, as I'd rather have the life that I have because the important things aren't a yacht or t-shirts with your name on it

That T Shirt did make me laugh a bit. I wonder if it's supposed to prevent people from having to ask him who he is...
